As a patriotic Chinese enterprise deeply rooted in Macau, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) upholds the philosophy of “education engenders a strong country” and continues to advance patriotic education by leveraging its cultural and resource strengths. It aims to enhance the sense of belonging and identification with the motherland of Macau youth, while deepening the younger generation’s understanding of and emotional connection to national history and culture.

GEG actively creates diverse platforms, enabling young people to engage more vividly with national affairs. With this year marking the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, and with several high-quality domestic films being released, GEG seized the opportunity to host and support multiple special screenings for young people at Galaxy Macau’s Galaxy Cinemas. These big-screen experiences delivered uniquely inspiring national education to students.
Young people experience history and culture up close
The film program encompassed animated and historical works, including Nezha 2, Dead To Rights and Yang Jingy. To date, the initiative has attracted nearly a thousand young participants, with some students attending screenings hailing from teams competing in the “GEG Macau Cup – National Education Competition”. GEG aims to leverage cinema’s vivid imagery and emotional resonance to guide students towards a more intuitive understanding of Chinese cultural essence and national historical spirit.

To enrich the learning experience, GEG invited guests to engage with audiences during select screenings. For Dead To Rights, GEG invited Macau distributor Liu Changmei introduced students to the historical context depicted in the film; while the special screening of Yang Jingy featured the presence of Ma Jimin, descendant of General Yang Jingyu, alongside the film’s director and local Macau director Bruce Le. They recounted heroic deeds and creative concepts, enabling students to tangibly grasp the indomitable spirit and patriotic sentiments of figures from the War of Resistance.
GEG continues to advance patriotic education, passing on the spirit of loving the motherland and loving Macau.
Students responded enthusiastically and gained much from the experience
Several participating students shared their impressions of the film. Students from Premier School Affiliated to Hou Kong Middle School remarked, ‘’GEG arranged for us to watch the splendid Na Zha 2. Through modern animation techniques, the film reinterprets a widely known folk tale. Not only did it deepen our understanding of the essence of Chinese culture and stimulate our creative thinking, but it also showcased our nation’s cultural charm and creative potential to the world.”

Students from Fong Chong School of Taipa also discussed their experience of the historical film.
“The powerful imagery in Yang Jingyu deeply impressed upon me the heroism and sacrifice of our wartime heroes, making me appreciate the hard-won peace we enjoy today,” one student stated.
“The heartfelt sharing by General Yang Jingyu’s descendant and the director during the event deeply moved us and inspired us to further explore history with passion, passing on the spirit of loving the motherland and loving Macau.”
