With the Chinese New Year of the Bingwu (Year of the Horse) upon us, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) has curated a series of diverse and engaging festive initiatives including major citywide celebrations, spanning community care, cultural heritage and team member engagement. Through these efforts, GEG said it extends New Year blessings to different groups across the Macau community, its team members, as well as visitors from around the world.

The initiatives also support Macau’s development as a “World Centre of Tourism and Leisure”, further advancing the cross-sector integration of “Tourism +” and adding vibrant Spring Festival cheer to the city.
On 25 February, GEG Chairman Francis Lui and GEG’s senior executives including Philip Cheng, Director; Eileen Lui, Group Director of Human Resources and Administration; Kevin Kelley, Chief Operating Officer – Macau and other members gathered for the traditional New Year blessing ceremony and a lion dance performance at Galaxy Macau and StarWorld Hotel. There they extended auspicious wishes for smooth progress and prosperity in the year ahead, offering sincere festive greetings to the wider community.
Supporting the Chinese New Year float parade
As an important participant in Macau’s integrated tourism and leisure industry, GEG actively supports major events organized by the Macao SAR Government to help enhance the city’s festive vitality and international appeal. This year, as one of the official partners, GEG fully supported and participated in the “Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Horse”, organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO).

On 19 February, the opening ceremony was held, with Philip Cheng, Director of GEG, attending the event. Wavey the Peacock of Galaxy Kidz also made an early appearance to interact warmly with residents and visitors, energizing the atmosphere.
GEG’s Chinese New Year float made a dazzling debut. Centered on the “Golden Horse” design concept and adorned with brilliant lighting and detailed decorations, the float presented an auspicious festive message. Dancers in elegant costumes wove symbolic elements such as white peacocks and galloping horses into the performance, with formation changes resembling a peacock spreading its feathers and lotus blossoms in full bloom, drawing enthusiastic applause from spectators.
Supporting Macau’s development as a “World Centre of Tourism and Leisure” further advances the cross-sector integration of “Tourism+”.
On 28 February, the second parade took place in Macau’s northern district, where GEG’s float appeared again, bringing the celebration to a joyful close. To extend the festive spirit, the float will be on public display at Tap Seac Square from 1 to 8 March, inviting residents and tourists to view it up close and share in the Chinese New Year cheer.
A series of initiatives to welcome Chinese New Year
Celebrating community care with warmth and companionship, this year marks the 10th consecutive year that GEG has served as the title sponsor of the “GEG Community Caring Program”, organized by the Peng On Tung Tele-assistance Service Centre (Peng On Tung) of the General Union of Neighborhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM). Continuing the 2025 theme of “Technology Care”, the program incorporated the “Technology Care Innovation Design Competition” which attracted nearly 120 student participants who applied creativity to empower the daily lives of seniors.

An award ceremony was held ahead of the Chinese New Year, with distinguished guests including Ng Sio Lai, President of UGAMM, and Buddy Lam, Director of Corporate Affairs of GEG, in attendance to present awards and recognize the students’ innovative ideas and heartfelt contributions.
Following the ceremony, GEG arranged the “Spring Festival Celebration” gift-giving initiative. Representatives of GEG and UGAMM, together with the award-winning students, visited the community to deliver specially prepared festive pastries to Peng On Tung users, seniors living alone and elderly couples. Through warm greetings and thoughtful care, the initiative allowed seniors to experience the joy and kindness of the festive season.
Experiencing intangible cultural heritage and strengthening cultural confidence
Ahead of the Spring Festival, GEG and the Macau Management Association co-organized the “GEG x YAP Intangible Heritage Experience – Golden Fortunes: The Macau Debut of Zhu Bingren’s Copper Art & Copper Rubbing Workshop”, inviting members of the “15th GEG Youth Achievement Program” (YAP) to take part.

At the event, YAP members first visited the “Golden Fortunes: The Macau Debut of Zhu Bingren’s Copper Art” exhibition, appreciating up close the artistry of copper sculpture as an intangible cultural heritage craft and gaining deeper insight into the breadth and depth of traditional Chinese culture.
Celebrating with team members and promoting responsible gaming
GEG places strong emphasis on team member engagement. During the Chinese New Year period, GEG joined hands with the Youth Volunteers Association of Macao (AJVM) to hold the “GEG Presents: ‘Galloping into New Voices with Rational Play’ Responsible Gaming CNY Roadshow” across multiple back-of-house areas of GEG properties.

The roadshow incorporated responsible gaming messages into interactive activities such as quick Q&A and New Year tongue-twisters, complemented by on-site explanations and consultation services provided by GEG’s Responsible Gaming Ambassadors and AJVM’s Responsible Gaming Kiosk Ambassadors. Through a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, team members strengthened their understanding of the regulations on “Regulating the Conditions of Entering, Working and Gaming at Casinos” and further developed rational, healthy perspectives on entertainment. The initiative attracted close to 4,000 team member participants and achieved strong promotional impact.
GEG’s Chinese New Year initiatives have enriched Macau’s festive atmosphere while demonstrating GEG’s commitment to social responsibility.
Meanwhile, GEG’s Human Resources and Administration Department also rolled out a range of “Great Luck in Chinese New Year” themed activities in the back-of-house areas. At the spring couplets writing workshops, team members wrote festive blessings by hand to share their hopes for the year ahead; at themed booth games, colleagues joined in with laughter and festive surprises; and at team member canteens a variety of traditional Chinese New Year dishes were served, allowing team members to enjoy the flavors of home and feel the warmth of GEG’s corporate family while welcoming the new year together.
Lai Chi Vun Shipyards Spring Festival Bazaar
As part of its district revitalization initiative at the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards, GEG is hosting the “GEG Presents: Lai Chi Vun Shipyards Spring Festival Bazaar of Fortune”. Launched ahead of Chinese New Year and running through 8 March, the bazaar offers residents and visitors a festive destination that brings together leisure, entertainment and shopping.

Event highlights include Macau’s largest creative photo spot featuring 302 dancing lion heads; a Chinese New Year limited “wishing tree” installation for tossing wishes and praying for blessings; a family-friendly ice-skating rink offering winter fun; and a cultural and creative market curated by local SMEs and social service organizations, showcasing festive goods and handcrafted products that reflect Macau’s local character.
From active participation in major city events, to community care; from the promotion of intangible cultural heritage to team member engagement, GEG’s Chinese New Year initiatives have enriched Macau’s festive atmosphere while demonstrating GEG’s commitment to social responsibility and long-term community partnership.
