Sands China and Macau Red Cross join forces for 8th consecutive year to promote disaster preparedness education

  • Sands China joined the Macau Red Cross again this year for the “Sands Cares Disaster Preparation & Emergency Response Kit Programme.”
  • Sands China took part in assembling and distributing 1,500 emergency kits, delivered to four local schools in Macau.

Sands China has once again partnered with the Macau Red Cross this year to promote the “Sands Cares Disaster Preparation & Emergency Response Kit Programme,” continuing their collaboration initiated in 2019.

This year, Sands China’s Sands Cares Ambassadors community volunteers took part in assembling and distributing 1,500 emergency kits, which were delivered to four local schools. In conjunction with the school-based civil defense workshops, the program introduced primary school students to disaster preparedness, emergency evacuation and response awareness at an early age.

The emergency kits were made with waterproof material and included practical items such as a first aid kit, emergency blanket, facemasks and an emergency radio with a light. To increase fire emergency preparedness, Sands China added a fire evacuation mask to this year’s kit, helping residents and households further improve their response capabilities.

The program also extended civil defense talks to team members for the first time, helping them strengthen their readiness for various emergency situations.

Dr Wilfred Wong, Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China Ltd, said, “Sands China has been collaborating with Macau Red Cross on the ‘Sands Cares Disaster Preparation & Emergency Response Kit Programme’ for eight consecutive years. Over the years, we have worked together to introduce disaster preparedness and emergency response knowledge to the community in a bid to strengthen the relevant capabilities of the general public. This initiative has demonstrated our company’s commitment to caring for and serving the community and has brought together community forces to promote the spirit of mutual support and assistance.”
