The British Chamber of Commerce in Macao (Britcham Macao) has been supporting local Macau citizen Camille Leong since 2019, her first year of studies at Macau’s University of St Joseph. Camille was an outstanding student in her classes and was awarded scholarships every year through her studies. Camille graduated in 2022 and now works as a social worker at an NGO in Macau. BritCham says it is “very honored to be able to walk with Camille along her journey and we are very proud of her achievements.”
In discussing its CSR efforts, Britcham Macao said it believes, “we must give back to the local society we all benefit from.” The Chamber primarily fund raises through its annual Gala Ball and has been doing so since 2009. It was that year that the Chamber established its CSR Fund, which now receives a minimum of 50% of the profits from each annual ball.
“Britcham Macao has been pleased to support Camille,” said BritCham Macao Chairman Keith Buckley, “It is not just about making donations but we are also happy that we could stay in touch with Camille along the way, not only attending fellowship award ceremonies and her graduation ceremony, but also meeting with her on a one-to-one basis. Her family is based in Madagascar which has been another challenge during these recent COVID times. We wish Camille all the best in her future career.”
Since 2009, the Chamber has distributed MOP$680,000 in CSR funds.
