The Volunteer Team of Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) recently took part in three initiatives aimed at helping take care of people in need – part of its mandate to proactively engage in volunteering work to give back to society.
These included a partnership with Caritas Macau, a Macau CSR strategic partner, through which members of the GEG Volunteer Team attended a seminar in May hosted by the Caritas Elderly Service Department, at which a nutritionist conducted a lecture on “Nutrition and Food Hygiene for the Elderly”. The lecture was one of 12 planned to take place between May and October providing education on psychology, rehabilitation and nursing, and boosting the public’s knowledge and skills in nursing care. It provided information on the nutritional needs of the elderly, suitable cooking skills for the elderly, food safety and hygiene, and more.
In a similar initiative hosted by the Macau Social Welfare Bureau on 31 May, GEG Volunteer Team members were educated on how to take care of disabled people.
In early June, GEG Volunteer Team members assisted in distributing food hampers as part of an initiative by the Holy House of Mercy to help a total of 370 families in need — the 11th consecutive year GEG has supported this initiative. A donation of MOP$300,000 from GEG was also presented to the Holy House of Mercy in person by Mr Philip Cheng, Director of GEG, to support the charity’s welfare shop and daily operation.
The GEG Volunteer Team, established in 2011 as part of the company’s philosophy of “what is taken from the community is to be used for the good of the community”, is committed to extending care and love to the community.
