Art, culture and entertainment is a key sector listed in the SAR Government’s “1+4” adequate diversification development strategy. Galaxy Entertainment Group has been actively participating in the promotion of this sector, with its Galaxy Arena recently signing a three-year strategic partnership with Tencent-held entertainment brand TME Live. During the term of the agreement both parties will leverage their respective advantages, resources and experience to organize a wide variety of entertainment spectaculars and events for Macau, propelling the development of the local cultural and entertainment sector. The first of these events kicked off in early July, with four “super long standby” music ceremonies and music carnivals in two days.
The 4th Tencent Music Entertainment Awards (TMEA) ceremony, which is the most eye-catching and influential in the annual music scene, featured the theme “Music for Fun”. It was held at the largest indoor arena in Macau, the state-of-the-art 16,000-seat Galaxy Arena on 8 and 9 July. In addition to the main stage at the Galaxy Arena, a sub-venue was setup for the first time at Avenida Dr. Sun Yat Sen, delivering highly acclaimed performances from afternoon to evening and making the show the first and largest outdoor music festival in Macau.
During the two-day and four-session music ceremony, the organizer invited popular international artists, aiming to create a high-quality performance stage. On the first day of the grand ceremony on 8 July, Jolin Tsai, Faye Zhan Wenting, Tiger Hu Yanbin and more than 20 groups of singers and musicians jointly created the “Annual Stage” to bring audiences and music fans a feast of entertainment. On 9 July, the show gathered more outstanding singers and music groups, including powerhouse Jess Lee, Tencent musician Leon Liu, famous singer JJ Lin and Taiwan music bands Escape Plan and Accusefive.
The gathering of so many famous music acts at world-class venues successfully enhanced the international image of Macau.
In addition, GEG also invited students of the University of Macau’s Lui Che Woo College and members of the GEG Youth Development Program to experience the entertainment spectacular, with the aim of stimulating the younger generation’s interest in music through first-class performances.
The 2023 TMEA Tencent Music Entertainment Festival also featured local SMEs plus food and beverage vendors, while Wavey the Peacock of Galaxy Kidz joined the event to interact with the audience, amplifying the summer’s vitality and fervor.
In a committed effort to provide non-gaming experiences, GEG is constantly innovating in the realm of entertainment and has been actively supporting the SAR Government in facilitating “Tourism + Culture and Art” integrated development. In the future, the group will continue to work together with all walks of life to build Macau into a “World Center of Tourism and Leisure.”
