GEG to revitalize Lai Chi Vun Shipyard

The Macau SAR Government has partnered with Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) to revitalize the historic Lai Chi Vun Shipyards, aiming to transform the area into a center for family entertainment, sports, culture and art activities.

Being the only extant shipbuilding industry site in Macau, Lai Chi Vun Shipyards remains relatively intact and has been divided into a number of distinct lots. The revitalization project on lots X11-X15 has been finished since June 2023, with related areas opened to the public.

The purpose of GEG’s revitalization of the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards is to improve the overall image of Macau and boost the attractiveness of the area.

The renovations of the existing facilities will be conducted in two phases, the first of which will see GEG set up facilities such as a history gallery and an outdoor open space. There will also be a venue featuring family and sports features, including a variety of children’s play facilities and large playgrounds for bicycles and scooters. Cultural performances organized in cooperation with local SMEs and different community groups will also be provided.

The second phase will feature themes of family entertainment, culture and art, including the establishment of a unique ice-rink and the development of an innovative urban farm. A bookstore and cafés are also on the list in a bid to build a working and exchange platform for cultural groups.
