GEG holds educational seminar and workshop to promote food conservation

In order to raise public awareness of the importance of food conservation and the wise use of leftovers, as well as to celebrate World Food Day, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) organized an event with the theme “International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste (IDAFLW)” at Galaxy Kidz Edutainment Center. Held on 14 October, GEG invited 25 parents and children from the Civic Education Center of the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau to participate in the event.

As part of the day’s activities, representatives of GEG’s Sustainability Team shared the current status of global food supply and introduced some of the group’s sustainable development initiatives and also shared with participants the results of the “Clean Plate Challenge” campaign held in its staff canteens, aiming to promote the environmental message of proper utilization of food residues, as well as to raise the public awareness of food waste reduction.

During the educational activity, members of the GEG Volunteer Team also joined participants for the “Orange Peel Dishwashing Liquid” workshop where they learned how to make good use of leftovers and reduce waste.

GEG has also been participating in the “Pilot Project for the Collection of Food Residues from Food and Beverage Establishments”– initiated by the Environmental Protection Bureau of the Macau SAR Government.
