  • The company’s environmental initiatives are part of the Sands ECO360 global sustainability strategy of parent company Las Vegas Sands Corp.

In late March, Sands China participated in “Earth Hour 2024”, joining enterprises and individuals worldwide in turning off non-essential indoor and outdoor lights for one hour to promote environmental sustainability.

All properties under Sands China took part in the event: Sands Macao, The Venetian Macao, The Plaza Macao featuring Four Seasons, The Parisian Macao and The Londoner Macao (comprising The Londoner Hotel, Londoner Court, St. Regis, Conrad and Sheraton).

This year marks Sands China’s 16th consecutive year of involvement in Earth Hour. In addition to this annual event, Sands China has been observing Earth Hour monthly since 2013. On the first Tuesday night of each month throughout the year, the exterior lights, signage and marquees of its properties are turned off for an hour.

“We are honoured to stand as unwavering supporters of Earth Hour for the 16th consecutive year,” said Sean McCreery, Executive Vice President of Operations for Sands China Ltd. “Besides reducing energy consumption, we aim to inspire others to join us in this iconic global campaign, and to take action against the climate crisis and its threat to nature. We extend our sincere gratitude to our team members, guests and hotel partners for their dedicated support and participation in this year’s event.”

Sands China revealed that its environmental initiatives are part of the Sands ECO360 global sustainability strategy of parent company Las Vegas Sands Corp.

As a result of its comprehensive sustainability measures, Sands China has received several awards and accolades, including all Sands China hotels being awarded Macao Green Hotel Gold Awards; being named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) World for the second year and DJSI Asia Pacific for the third consecutive year in 2023; placing in the top 1% for ESG Performance in the China edition of S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2023; earning “Prime Status” and “B” Rating in the 2023 ISS ESG Corporate Rating; earning special mention in the Hang Seng Index Category of the HKICPA’s 2023 Best Corporate Governance and ESG Awards; earning five Top 10 rankings in the 2023 Business Sustainability Indices determined by the Chinese University of Hong Kong Business School, highlighted by a Top 5 ranking in the Greater China Hotel Business Sustainability Index; and being listed in the 2023 FTSE4Good Index Series.
