- Sands China and community partners assembled more than 30,000 hygiene kits for those in need.
- The kits are intended to improve personal hygiene and prevent the spread of infectious diseases for disaster-affected families.
In late October, Sands China team members, alongside community partners, gathered at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo to assemble over 30,000 hygiene kits for the social enterprise Clean the World. These kits will be distributed to 15 community groups, benefiting disaster-affected families in the Philippines as well as NGO members in need in Hong Kong and Macau.
Sands China launched this global volunteer initiative in 2014, with the goal of assembling and distributing hygiene kits to improve personal hygiene and help prevent the spread of infectious diseases in vulnerable communities. The company noted that it was the first integrated resort in Macau to spearhead such an effort.
This year’s event saw participation from Sands China team members, including Sands Care Ambassadors, and local environmental groups Macau ECOnscious, Green Future, the Bosco Green Store of the Bosco Youth Service Network, and the University of Saint Joseph. Each kit contains shampoo, conditioner, body wash, a toothpaste and toothbrush set, soap and a personalized note, all packaged in eco-friendly bags. The soap was recycled from Sands China’s hotels by Clean the World following a sanitization and reprocessing procedure.
“It is a pleasure for Sands China to work with Clean the World to support global hygiene for 11 straight years now,” said Dr Wilfred Wong, Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China Ltd. “This annual initiative is an important part of our commitment to address environment and community in our strategies.
“By working together, we believe we can contribute to helping our world become a better place and support people in need. Our gratitude goes to Clean the World, our team members, and our community partners who have cooperated with us over the years to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable communities, while recycling resources and practicing sustainability.”
