The art exhibition “Art of Prosperity: An Invitational Exhibition of Macao Artists”, commemorating the anniversary of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland, has opened at Sands Macao. Organized by the Macau Artist Society and the Yu Un Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association of Macao, the exhibition is co-organized by Sands China and the Macao Foundation.
The exhibition showcases 250 masterpieces by 230 Macau-based artists and 20 invited artists from Hong Kong, encompassing diverse art forms such as Chinese painting, oil painting, watercolour, calligraphy, seal carving, digital drawing, printmaking, sculpture and clay.
Lok Hei, President of the Macau Artist Society, highlighted the exhibition’s symbolic message, stating, “Paired with ‘millennial prosperity’, the title reflects a hope for a strong, flourishing nation and a thriving, peaceful Macau for generations to come. With a wealth of artistic talent, this exhibition is the Macau art community’s heartfelt tribute to both China’s National Day and Macau’s Return to China anniversary.”
Dr Wilfred Wong, Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China, added, “This year’s ‘Art of Prosperity’ exhibition weaves a vibrant historical tapestry as it features masterpieces in a myriad of artistic languages, expressions and styles from 230 exceptional artists from Macau alongside 20 guest artists from Hong Kong.
“Alongside the dual anniversaries, this year also marks the 20th anniversary of Sands Macao. Serving as the cornerstone for Sands China’s presence in Macau, the property laid the foundation for our company’s growth on the Cotai Strip. Following the establishment of Sands Macao, we have had the privilege to witness and contribute to the flourishing development of this extraordinary city after its return to the motherland. Therefore, hosting this art exhibition not only signifies our commitment to supporting Macau’s moderate economic development, but also underscores our dedication to its cultural enrichment.”
