- The certification recognizes GEG’s promotion of environmental protection awareness via a variety of activities to support sustainable development.
Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) has become the first company in the Hong Kong and Macau region to receive the “Eat Fair Corporate” certification from Oxfam. The recognition highlights GEG’s proactive engagement in the “Eat Fair Campaign 2024/25 – Eat Fair Corporate” educational program. As part of the initiative, Oxfam representatives visited Galaxy Macau’s back-of-house areas to advocate for low-carbon dining habits and promote a sustainable food culture among GEG’s team members.
GEG upholds its commitment to fostering a “green, healthy and sustainable” dining culture. Its staff canteens offer low-salt, low-sugar and low-oil meal options, along with daily vegetarian choices. Additionally, GEG hosts a monthly “Green Monday” initiative, serving low-carbon meals to inspire team members to incorporate sustainable practices into their everyday food choices.
The company will further advance its sustainability goals by refining menus, encouraging food conservation and conducting educational campaigns on green dining. These efforts aim to contribute to broader environmental objectives while fostering industry-wide collaboration.
As part of its broader sustainability initiatives, GEG recently organized a “GEG World Food Day Workshop” at the Galaxy Kidz Edutainment Center at Galaxy Macau. The workshop engaged 30 students and parents from Escola Tong Sin Tong – Primary Section, teaching them about the importance of resource conservation and proper handwashing techniques. Participants also explored sustainable practices through hands-on activities, such as making jam and repurposing fruit peels into cleaning solutions.
Moving forward, GEG said it will continue to raise awareness of resource conservation, collaborating with diverse stakeholders to build a greener, more sustainable Macau.
