Melco has unveiled a new art installation at Mount Fortress Corridor, recreating a key scene from Turn Left, Turn Right – an iconic work by renowned Taiwanese picture book artist Jimmy Liao. The installation enhances the cultural ambiance of the area, offering a new photo spot for literary enthusiasts and art lovers.
Jimmy is one of the most influential picture book artists in the Chinese-speaking world. Turn Left, Turn Right has been published in 14 languages and was adapted into a film in 2003 and a musical in 2008. The story follows two protagonists who repeatedly cross paths without meeting – until fate eventually brings them together. The new installation at Mount Fortress Corridor captures this poignant moment, allowing visitors to step into the classic scene.
Meanwhile, Melco’s “Blessed Mount Fortress Spring Festival” is running at Mount Fortress Garden until 12 February (the 15th day of Chinese New Year). The festival features period costume photography, Tang Dynasty attire and makeup workshops, a lucky lantern wall and an interactive Fortress Fortune Telling experience. Additionally, a New Year food market showcasing local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) offers a variety of festive delicacies.
Melco has also installed a special New Year display inspired by the Macao Museum’s “Edification of the Masses — An Exhibition of Cultural Treasures from the ZHOU • QIN • HAN • TANG Dynasties” exhibition and hosted its Activity Series “An Evening of Glamorous Costumes”. Visitors can further immerse themselves in tradition through three interactive game booths. These activities aim to provide both residents and tourists with an immersive cultural experience.
Melco stated that it plans to continue hosting art installations and cultural events at Mount Fortress, with the aim of enhancing the area’s cultural appeal and supporting local economic growth.
