Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) has been the title sponsor, for the 10th consecutive year, of the “GEG Community Caring Program” – organized by the Peng On Tung Tele-assistance Service (Peng On Tung) of the General Union of Neighborhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM).

The 2025 edition, themed “Technology Care”, launched the “Technology Care Innovation Design Competition”, which focused on the creation of smart assistive devices. The competition encouraged young people to respond to seniors’ needs through creative thinking and technology, attracting close to 120 students.
The award ceremony was held on 7 February. Buddy Lam, Director of Corporate Affairs of GEG, attended to show support for the event and extended his congratulations to Ng Sio Lai, President of UGAMM, on Peng On Tung’s recent conferment of the Medal for Community Service by the Macao SAR Government.
Buddy Lam said in his speech: “GEG is delighted to continue partnering with UGAMM on multiple initiatives, including support for the GEG Community Caring Program over 10 consecutive years, which brings warmth and care to the elderly in the community. GEG will continue to work hand in hand with all sectors to fulfill our commitment to the community, demonstrating our corporate social responsibility philosophy of ‘Community at Heart, Empathy in Action’.”

Ng Sio Lai said in her speech: “We are grateful to GEG for its years of support and sponsorship. Special thanks also go to the GEG Volunteer Team for their caring visits, and to the youths of the Technology Care Innovation Design Competition whose creativity will enhance the quality of life for the elderly and foster social inclusion. Looking ahead, let us join hands to promote the spirit of mutual help and community care, so that every elder and community member feels cared for. ”
Over the years, GEG has made multiple donations to the “Peng On Tung Charity Foundation” to subsidize nearly 30,000 financially disadvantaged individuals in using Peng On Tung’s services. For the past decade, GEG has also continuously partnered with UGAMM to advance related community initiatives, bringing care and warmth into the community.

Following the ceremony, GEG and Peng On Tung jointly hosted the activity of celebrating the Spring Festival. Representatives from GEG and UGAMM, together with award-winning students, distributed festive Chinese New Year cakes and delivered holiday greetings to Peng On Tung users, seniors living alone and elderly couples.
Lei Pak Hei, an award-winning student from Pui Ching Middle School, said the activity took students beyond the classroom and into the community, allowing them to engage with seniors in person. Students gained a deeper understanding of seniors’ needs and learned how to convey respect and warmth through action.
