Throughout March, Macau integrated resort operator Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) remained steadfast in its support for local cultural and artistic initiatives.
Towards the end of the month, the 1st Macao International Shorts Film Festival, jointly organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and GEG, was held. During the festival, a string of short films from different genres were screened at Cinematheque ‧ Passion and Galaxy Cinemas of the Galaxy Macau integrated resort, while the opening and closing ceremony as well as different workshops took place at the Galaxy International Convention Center.
As one of the selected “Macau Shorts” in this year’s festival, the local short film Step by Step documents the determination and training of Macau Special Olympics (MSO) track and field athletes. On 26 March, GEG extended a special invitation to 20 service users of the MSO to attend the screening of the short film. Accompanied by the director Digi Chiang and other members of the production team, the attendees had the opportunity to immerse themselves in this captivating work. Notably, the MSO has been a longstanding partner of GEG.
Mr Siu Yu Hong, Executive Director of the MSO, expressed gratitude for the platform provided by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and GEG for the significant short film festival. He emphasized the film’s role in raising awareness, understanding and acceptance of vulnerable communities, fostering social integration, and promoting a harmonious and inclusive society.
In addition, the highly anticipated Celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Macau’s Return to the Motherland, “2024 Macao International Parade”, illuminated the streets on 24 March, with GEG standing as one of the co-organizers.
On the eve of the Macao International Parade, GEG presented the “GEG Shining Parade Fun” at the Crystal Lobby of Galaxy Macau and the Broadway Food Street of Broadway Macau, featuring elite overseas performing groups and Wavey the Peacock of Galaxy Kidz parading at GEG properties to showcase multi-cultural characteristics. Citizens and tourists were invited to join the parade and interact with the performers.
GEG expressed its honor in being one of the co-organizers of the events and pledged to continue collaborating with various sectors to showcase Macau’s unique tourism charm. They reiterated their commitment to contributing to the establishment of Macau as the “City of Performing Arts” in the future.
