• Sands China unveiled company-funded Aoyi Primary School campus in Jiangxi’s Xiushui County.
• The company’s community work is part of the Sands Cares corporate citizenship program.

In early September, Sands China joined a handover ceremony for Aoyi Primary School in Xiushui County, Jiangxi Province, a project co-funded by Sands China Ltd and China Civil Engineering Construction Company (Macau) Ltd (CCECC). A delegation of 20 Sands Cares Ambassadors and senior executives traveled to the site to witness the event.

The original school, located at the base of a hillside, faced safety and facility issues. The new campus now provides a safer and more conducive learning environment for school-aged children in the surrounding villages, laying a solid foundation for the long-term improvement of Xiushui County’s basic education infrastructure.

Following the ceremony, the delegation toured the newly constructed campus, distributing stationery gift packs along with a donation of sports equipment to the school. Ambassadors also engaged in activities with students and teachers in the school’s newly equipped facilities.

The trip included visits to the homes of students living in nearby mountain villages, where the delegation presented gift packages containing cooking oil, rice, noodles and household items. The ambassadors further deepened their appreciation for local history and national pride with a visit to the Qiushou Uprising Xiushui Memorial Hall.

Dr Wilfred Wong, Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China, said, “We firmly believe that by improving the foundational educational resources there, we can not only create a more conducive learning environment for local children but also establish a robust groundwork for the county’s long-term economic and social development, which holds profound significance. We hope that the connection between the two places will endure, and through this project, we can extend the caring spirit of the Sands Cares Ambassadors, demonstrating a sense of patriotism and love for Macau.”
