- GEG and UTM jointly organized community tourism training programs.
- The initiative aimed to deepen team members’ understanding of local cultural tourism resources.
Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), in collaboration with the Macao University of Tourism (UTM), recently launched the “Experience Macao with GEG Program.” Held between November and December 2024, the initiative featured “A Hundred Years of Taipa and Coloane Stories” themed training sessions and a new five-day study program.
The two training sessions attracted over 300 GEG management and frontline team members. Delivered by UTM experts, the sessions covered historical events, the daily lives of local communities and the evolution of architectural styles in the Cotai region over the past century. Participants actively engaged in discussions with lecturers, exploring the links between Macau’s cultural heritage and the promotion of cultural tourism.
The five-day study program welcomed 25 frontline team members from departments such as Customer Service, Food & Beverage, and Hotel Services. Under the guidance of professional instructors, participants gained insights into Macau’s cultural heritage preservation efforts. They also conducted field visits to Lai Chi Vun Shipyards, which GEG revitalized in collaboration with the Macau SAR Government, to experience the charm of Macau’s historical sites.
GEG also arranged for participants to join a workshop titled “Making Grandma Rosa’s Portuguese Tarts,” hosted by Chef André Lai, Executive Chef of Andaz Kitchen. Through hands-on experience, participants learned about the heritage and evolution of Macanese cuisine as an intangible cultural asset of Macau. Graduates of the program were presented with certificates during a graduation ceremony.
Through GEG’s initiatives, team members gained the opportunity to obtain a deeper understanding of Macau’s rich tourism and the cultural history of the local community. The company explained that this enhanced knowledge will help team members better promote the city’s cultural and tourism assets in their daily work, contributing to Macau’s development as a “World Centre of Tourism and Leisure”.
