• The 15th anniversary of the Sands Cares Ambassador Programme was marked with a celebratory event.

Sands China hosted a celebratory event in early December to mark the 15th anniversary of its Sands Cares Ambassador Programme. The event recognized the long-standing partnership with local social service organizations and the company’s dedicated community volunteers. These ambassadors have made invaluable contributions to the Macau community, demonstrating exceptional commitment to social causes.

The celebration ceremony was attended by around 200 guests, including officials from the Macau SAR Government, Sands China executives, representatives from Macau NGOs and Sands Cares Ambassadors.

During the event, Sands China executives presented awards to 25 ambassadors in recognition of their long-standing service, volunteer hours and other significant contributions to the community. The venue featured photo booths for participants to capture memorable moments, as well as an exhibition showcasing the key milestones and achievements of the program over the past 15 years.

Guests were also presented with commemorative gifts created by a less abled artist from the Fuhong Society of Macau. Sands China said it hopes the gifts will help the public appreciate the artistic talents of individuals with special needs, in line with the company’s commitment to inclusiveness and the belief that art knows no boundaries.

Grant Chum, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of the company, said, “Sands China established the Sands Cares Ambassador Programme in 2009 and became the first integrated tourism and leisure enterprise in Macau to establish a volunteer team. There were only 200 members in the early days of the program, but we now have more than 3,600 team members who have become Sands Cares Ambassadors, cumulatively contributing over 310,000 hours of volunteer service.

“The positive contributions of the ambassadors to community development have been widely recognized by all walks of life, for which we are very proud. Yet, we know that many groups and families in society still need help, so we encourage more team members to join forces in community volunteerism, deliver the spirit of care together and continue to help build a harmonious and inclusive community.”

The Sands Cares Ambassador Programme offers a platform for the company’s employees to serve the community and is a core part of the company’s “Sands Cares” corporate citizenship initiative. Sands China encourages the public to get involved, inviting them to use the hashtag “#BeMyVolunteer” and join local social service organizations in their volunteer efforts.
