- The Lai Chi Vun Shipyards Spring Market is taking place from late January to early February.
- The event aims to bring festive joy to residents and tourists, and to promote the development of community tourism.
The Lai Chi Vun Shipyards Spring Market is taking place from 18 to 26 January (weekends), and from 31 January to 2 February (Chinese New Year’s third to fifth days) at Lai Chi Vun Shipyards X11-X15 in Coloane. The event is jointly organized by Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) and the Industry and Commerce Federation of Islands of Macao.
The event features over 15 cultural creative booths by local SMEs from Macau. The market offers a variety of Chinese New Year-themed activities, including live music performances by local Macau bands and family craft workshops. During Chinese New Year, the God of Wealth Parade will distribute lucky bags to spread New Year blessings to residents and tourists. In addition, GEG invited the members from Macau Deaf Association, Macau Special Olympics and Areia Preta Community Service Center of UGAMM to visit the market and enjoy the vitality of the revitalized area in hope of promoting inclusion in the community while bringing festive joy.
To make the event more accessible, GEG is providing free shuttle buses between Galaxy Macau’s Diamond Lobby and the Shipyards. The market has also partnered with nearby merchants to offer special promotions. Discount vouchers are being distributed using various methods, including encouraging tourists to take photos and check in at the event, thereby boosting local consumption.
The Lai Chi Vun Shipyards are a revitalization project by GEG and the Macao SAR Government. Following an upgrade, the area reopened last December with new high-tech multimedia display facilities and diverse recreational spaces including coastal swing photo spots, a stepped seating area and play areas designed for children of various ages.
Mr Yeong Keng Hoi of the Industry and Commerce Federation of Islands of Macao stated that the event aims to provide a platform for local SMEs to showcase and promote their brands, enhance visibility, attract more customers and drive consumption. The event has received strong support from GEG, demonstrating that as a leading integrated tourism and leisure enterprise, it adheres to the “Large Businesses Leading Small Businesses” business model, supporting the sustainable development of local SMEs.
