GEG continues support for international table tennis event
GEG has supported the WTT Champions Macao for six consecutive times, since 2020, and has been one of the event’s organizers since 2023, further cementing Macau’s status as a major hub for international table tennis competitions.
This year’s tournament featured 32 players in each of the men’s and women’s singles events, attracting numerous world-class players. In the men’s singles final, Wang Chuqin dominated Brazilian player Hugo Calderano with a 4-0 victory to clinch the championship. The women’s final featured a high-caliber duel between Sun Yingsha and Wang Manyu, with Sun clinching victory in the decisive set to claim the crown.
Notably, in addition to Macau’s Zhu Yuling returning to the competition, Macau’s own He Chon Fai and Kuan Cheok Lam also made their WTT debut, showcasing the potential and prowess of local table tennis talent.
The tournament demonstrated GEG’s steadfast commitment to promoting international sporting events.
Extending the spirit of sports into the community
As part of its ongoing commitment to promoting sports culture and community inclusion, GEG, along with various organizers, invited Zhu Yuling, Hugo Calderano, Xue Fei and Wang Yidi to three autograph sessions at Galaxy Macau’s East Square, where they connected with fans in person, creating a lively atmosphere and further enhancing Macau’s “Tourism + Sports” development.
In addition, GEG continues to leverage major sporting events to foster community engagement. During the tournament, GEG invited nearly 100 participants, including students from Lui Che Woo College of the University of Macau, Macau University of Tourism and Pui Ching Middle School, together with members of Macau Special Olympics and GEG Staff Social Club, to witness the matches and experience the dynamic charm of table tennis up close.
GEG promotes the diverse development of sports and culture
GEG has long actively supported the development of sports and cultural activities in Macau, enhancing the region’s international profile by hosting world-class sporting events. Beyond sporting competitions, GEG also innovatively combines art with athletics. This year, Galaxy GalaxyArt at Galaxy Macau presents “The Artistry of Table Tennis– Collectables & Art Exhibition”, open to the public from now until January 4, 2026, at Galaxy Macau’s East Square with free admission. This exhibition is transforming the dynamic allure of table tennis into a cultural feast. The exhibition features a giant table tennis table and paddle art installations, whose dynamic lines embody the aesthetic of the sport. The paddle collection area, inspired by Macau’s landmark Ruins of St. Paul’s, showcases the century-long history of table tennis and the glorious moments of world-class athletes.
Furthermore, the exhibition will be also linked with the 15th “GEG Macau Special Olympics Inclusive Table Tennis Fun Day”, titled sponsored by GEG and co-hosted with Macau Special Olympics. Through the DIY racket workshops and visits to the exhibitions, the event promotes the spirit of inclusive sports, allowing participants to experience firsthand the unique charm of table tennis as both a sport and a cultural phenomenon.
